Three more people died of coronavirus in Kenya as 155 test positive

Three more people have succumbed to coronavirus in Kenya as 155 others tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The death toll now stands at 128 with total number of cases reported in the country rising to 4,952.

Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi said all of the new cases are Kenyans: 120 are male and 35 are female.
She said the latest cases are from 4,171 samples with total cumulative samples tested now at 146,537.
The youngest is a 1 year old infant and the oldest is 77 years old.

Busia has 19 cases from Teso South (14) and Matayos (5); Migori has 10 cases are from Kuria West (6), Kuria East (3) and Nyatike (1); Mombasa has 16 cases are from Jomvu (4); Mvita (3); Nyali (1) and Changamwe (1).
102 patients have since been discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,782.
Dr. Mwangangi however noted that containment measures have reduced cases as people are more conscious of their health.
“We have seen a decline and dipping in other infectious diseases,” she said adding that there has also been a decrease in vices such as domestic violence.
According to the Health CAS, Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights (SRHR) needs must be prioritized particularly over reported cases of teenage pregnancy.
“We are interrogating the data with the counties. Teenage motherhood is catastrophic and disempowering. One pregnancy is a pregnancy too many. We have reviewed this number. Teenage numbers present late. The current data from the study highlighted is inaccurate especially when we look at the antenatal data,” she said.

Singer Eddy kenzo returns to Uganda

Singer Eddy kenzo on 25th of July 2020 returned to his mother land Uganda after spending almost six month in West Africa where he went for a music concert but unfortunately corona virus hit the world and he could not return to Uganda. Ministry of education burns falls information circulating on social media.

 The Ministry of Education and Sports has dismissed as false a communication purportedly attributed to the Chairperson of the COVID 19 Taskforce, stating that schools will reopen next year. According to document that was making rounds on social media, candidate classes will return to school in August 2020, national exams will be held early 2021 while other schools will also open next year. But Mr Patrick Muinda, the ministry of Education spokesman, said the information communicated is false, misleading and must therefore be dismissed and ignored. “The Ministry of Education and Sports does not issue Circulars and Policy guidelines through Social Media as a formal channel for Policy Communication. The formal communication with regard to the guidelines for re-opening schools will therefore be communicated to the Public as soon as the final consultative process ends,” he said on Thursday evening.
