Mbarara Archdiocese intalls new Archibishop


Archibishop Lambert Bainomugisha on Saturday 20th June have been installed as the New Archibishop of Mbarara Archdiocese.
The installation has been termed as scientific as it only grabbed a few number of congregation due to the impact of Covid-19.

Lambert Bainomugisha was appointed as the second Archibishop of Mbarara Archdiocese by Pop Francis on April 25th  2020.
He served as the apostolic administrator of Hoima diocese before his appointment to Mbarara.

Lira among the new COVID-19 new cases

The new results from the samples tested on the 13th of June 2020 confirms 11 new Covid-19 cases. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 696. Among these cases are 6 Truck drivers, 3 from Elegu boarder post in Amuru District while 3 are from Malaba, 1 Frontline health worker and 4 cases among the contacts and the alerts from Buikwe, Lira Adjumani and Amuru. Lira district had discharged all her patients that was admitted recently after all were tested negative. Rashford honoured for fundraising work

Man Utd striker receives special recognition for role in helping children at risk of going hungry during coronavirus pandemic. Over the last few weeks,  Manchester United  striker  Marcus Rashford  has been playing an important role in helping millions of children at risk of going hungry during the coronavirus pandemic. Together with charitable food distributor network  Fareshare , the 22-year-old has helped to raise £20million in donations which has been used to provide meals to 2.8m children who are going without because of the closure of schools. And this fundraising effort has led to Rashford receiving a special recognition award by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester for his "outstanding activity and contribution to the community".

MPs appeal for special support to border districts over Covid-19 pandemic

Hon. Santa Alum, Woman Representative, Oyam District. Legislators have beseeched government to give preferential treatment to the border districts with regard to resource allocations in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.   The MPs hailing from the border districts told Parliament chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga that the border points were ill prepared to manage the rising cases of the coronavirus, fearing that the fight against the pandemic could even be prolonged if nothing is done. They also questioned the rationale of allocating equal resources to all districts across the country, including those without cases, in response to Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda’s weekly update on the pandemic to Parliament on Thursday, 21 May 2020. MPs are concerned that whereas majority of the cases (72 per cent) emanate from the border points, many of those districts are unable to properly manage cases and prevent further transmission because they are po...
