Burundian outgoing President, Pierre Nkurunziza Dead


The government of Burundi has just announced this Tuesday in a statement "the unexpected death" of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

 Pierre was hospitalized at the Karusi hospital in the center of the country, since Saturday evening after feeling unwell.

Pierre Nkurunziza, in power since 2005, is said to have died yesterday Monday officially following a "cardiac arrest", announces the government, which has declared a national mourning for 7 days.

Nkurunziza was due to be replaced in August by political ally Evariste Ndayishimiye, who was declared earlier this month the winner of a May 20 presidential election.
