More 63 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Uganda bringing the total confirmed cases to 9,864.

  Ministry of Health has confirmed 63 new cases of  COVID-19 tests according to the test done on 11 October 2020. This brings the cumulative cases to 9,864. The breakdown of the new cases are summarised as below; Contacts and alerts are 63 with Kampala (24), Gulu (11), Wakiso (9), Soroti (6), Masindi (3), Mbale (2), Amuru (1), Busia (1), Masaka (1), Mityana (1), Moroto (1), Ntungamo (1), Sembabule (1) and Tororo (1) However, 1 new COVID-19 death was also confirmed from Kampala bringing the total COVID-19 deaths as per now to 94. The total number recoveries now stands at 6,109.

Artists Petition Parliament Over New Regulations.

Performing artists under the National Union of Creative Performing Artists and Allied Workers have reached out to Parliament over the recently issued regulations to their industry terming them as draconian. The group led by musician, Halima Namakula, met the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, and argued that the new regulations will encumber the activities of the entertainment industry. Singer Eddy kenzo returns to Uganda

Singer Eddy kenzo on 25th of July 2020 returned to his mother land Uganda after spending almost six month in West Africa where he went for a music concert but unfortunately corona virus hit the world and he could not return to Uganda. Schools will remain closed, government embraces e-learning

Education Minister Janet Museveni said it’s not the right time to reopen schools and revealed that her ministry is developing an ICT and e-learning framework which will guide education institutions on distance learning. In the meantime, she added it was still unsafe for government to reopen schools after observing the coronavirus trends within the country and picking lessons from other countries which had tried to reopen but closed again after a resurgence of the virus. As such, they agreed to continue facilitating home-schooling as they monitor the situation. Bududa: A man Stabs his Father to death

Police in Bududa District in eastern Uganda are investigating a murder case in which a 26-year-old knife-wielding man allegedly attacked his father. The Elgon regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect is already in police custody Samuel Wamono is said to have first undressed himself and walked around Bududa town naked before committing the crime. The Elgon region Police Spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, identified the victim as Simon Matselele, a resident of Kabuko cell, Nangako Town council in Bududa District. “He stabbed him in the chest using a sharp knife. We have arrested him as investigations are ongoing to establish what exactly happened. We recovered the knife he used to stab his father as evidence. The motive of the attack is not yet clear,”Mr Taitika said. A Japanese man has become the first person in the world to hold a master's degree in ninja studies, after completing a graduate course that involved learning basic martial arts and how to stealthily climb mountains. Genichi Mitsuhashi, 45, spent two years studying the history, traditions and fighting techniques of ninjas -- the mysterious covert agents of feudal Japan -- at the country's Mie University. Democratic Party president Norbert Mao is calling for postponement of the forth coming general elections until the country is ready or to review the law to accommodate the so called scientific elections. This was one of the key issues discussed during his engagement yesterday with the newly elected chairman of the Interparty Organisation for Dialogue, Asuman Basalirwa. The two Celebrated Ugandan young celebrites Fresh Kid aka Patrick Ssenyojo and Felista Da SuperSta has been given a New Tablet each to help them access online classes via Zoom. Lira; 20 yeard old man handed 10 years for defiling, infecting 8-year-old girl with HIV

A 20-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for defiling and infecting an 8-year-old girl with HIV/Aids. Emmanuel Eteka was convicted on his own plea of guilty during a virtual plea bargain session presided over by the Lira High Court resident judge Alex Ajiji Mackay. Prosecution told court that on March 2, 2019 at around 3am, Eteka while at Abongomon Village in Alebtong District, found the victim sleeping in their house and had sexual intercourse with her. “The victim was at that time eight years old and the sexual act caused tear and rapture in her private part. At the time of offence, Eteka was 19 years of age,” the prosecution stated. Mr Emmanuel Egaru, the defense counsel, had asked court to handle the convict with leniency since he pleaded guilty and had shown a sign of remorse. Three more people died of coronavirus in Kenya as 155 test positive

Three more people have succumbed to coronavirus in Kenya as 155 others tested positive in the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 128 with total number of cases reported in the country rising to 4,952. Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi said all of the new cases are Kenyans: 120 are male and 35 are female. She said the latest cases are from 4,171 samples with total cumulative samples tested now at 146,537. The youngest is a 1 year old infant and the oldest is 77 years old. COVID-19 in Kenya: 59 more people test positive, total rises to 4,797

Kenya's total cumulative samples tested now stands at 142,366, with these, a ge distribution of the new cases is between 7 to 67 years: out of the new 59 new cases, 47 are males and 12 are females. 73 more people have however been discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,682. Two others succumbed to the COVID-19 disease in the last 24 hours raising the death toll to 125. The cases are spread out in Nairobi 28, Mombasa 21, Kilifi 3, Kiambu 2, Machakos 2, Kisii 1, Bungoma 1 and Webuye 1. Nairobi cases are from Dagoretti North 7; Kibra 5; Embakasi East 4; Embakasi North 3;Westlands 3; Embakasi West 2; Embakasi Central 2; Roysambu 1 and Makadara 1. President Museveni in his 16th address on Corona virus updates speaks about the reopening of schools and other educational institutions and he said Education institutions will stay closed. Its still too risky to open schools. In the meantime, government will launch a big long-distance education programme through radios. Each homestead will get a radio set. He however added on the boarder districts, Museveni said the lockdown in the following border districts can be relaxed: Amudat, Bududa, Bukwo, Bundibugyo, Buvuma, Hoima, Isingiro, Kaabong, Kabale, Kalangala, Kanungu, Kasese, Kikuube, Kisoro, Kitgum, Koboko, Kween, Lamwo, Maracha, Mayuge, Moroto, Namayingo, Namisindwa, Ntoroko. Museveni added tr avel in and out of Uganda for medical reasons should be barred, in principle. However, Ministry of Health and other agencies can handle case by case.
