Kampala celebrated commercial sex worker demands 500M

The Kampala celebrated commercial sex worker Shanita Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black wants Ministry of Health Uganda to pay her 500M for the Covid-19 awareness campaign Advert she made to caution her co sex workers not to sleep with truck drivers coming into Uganda from the neighboring countries. Since the breakdown of Covid-19 cases in Uganda have been rising, the majority of the cases have been coming from the track drivers from different parts of the country. Mama Jonah has been joined by another outspoken Civil rights activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi. They have agreed to organize over 300 prostitutes to demonstrate to state house and Prime Minister's office while displaying their nakedness. Mama Jonah demands payment claiming she is not a charity worker. 

State house of Kenya Confirms Four Covid-19 cases

Four people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus at State House, Nairobi. According to State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, the four cases were recorded during a mass COVID-19 testing held on Thursday, June 11. The infected officers were admitted at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County for treatment. “The tests are conducted on all staff including His Excellency the President and members of his family,” said Kanze Dena, in a statement. “Families and close contacts of the affected officers are also being attended to accordingly.” The State House spokesperson has assured the public that President Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Family are safe and free from COVID-19. Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Kenya on Monday rose to 3,727 after 133 more patients tested positive for the disease. Lira among the new COVID-19 new cases

The new results from the samples tested on the 13th of June 2020 confirms 11 new Covid-19 cases. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 696. Among these cases are 6 Truck drivers, 3 from Elegu boarder post in Amuru District while 3 are from Malaba, 1 Frontline health worker and 4 cases among the contacts and the alerts from Buikwe, Lira Adjumani and Amuru. Lira district had discharged all her patients that was admitted recently after all were tested negative. It is also going viral that the government may declear another lockdown should the public fail to adhere to the guideline issued by the Ministry of Health to fight against Covid-19. 

Makerere University have unveiled the first unit of the medical Ventilator.

Makerere University have unveiled the first unit of the medical Ventilator a product of Makerere and Kiira Motors.  The ventilator is mobile and can be used in ambulances and hospitals.  The solar powered battery makes it suitable for Africa's rural settings with no reliable electricity supply. This has been revealed at Kiira Motors Cooperation where the personalities involved in the development were briefing the Minister of Health on the progress of the system.

Patients shun Kamuli hospital on COVID-19 scare

Patients in Kamuli District are avoiding seeking treatment at the district’s general hospital following the designation of the outpatient ward as a Covid19 isolation centre. MPs on the parliament task force on their tour in Kamuli. Dr Fred Duku, the acting District Health Officer told the Parliamentary Technical Committee on Covid that ever since the services of the outpatient unit were suspended to create an isolation centre, the number of patients has dropped.   “There is a lot of fear related to the Covid-19 pandemic that people have resorted to not coming to hospitals which is reducing service delivery in regards to health,” Duku said. He added that this was affecting other health centres at sub county level since most of the health officials at these centres were not adequately trained to handle Covid. Burundian outgoing President, Pierre Nkurunziza Dead

The government of Burundi has just announced this Tuesday in a statement "the unexpected death" of President Pierre Nkurunziza.  Pierre was hospitalized at the Karusi hospital in the center of the country, since Saturday evening after feeling unwell. Pierre Nkurunziza, in power since 2005, is said to have died yesterday Monday officially following a "cardiac arrest", announces the government, which has declared a national mourning for 7 days. Nkurunziza was due to be replaced in August by political ally Evariste Ndayishimiye, who was declared earlier this month the winner of a May 20 presidential election.

Armed Karamojong Rustlers left Agago district missing 54 heads of cattle

In the early hours of 9th, June, 2020, Suspected armed Karimojong cattle rustlers  raided Mora East village in Paimol Sub County in Agago District and stole 54 heads of cattle. These rustlers were numbering about eight, they struck the area at around 12am, according to security sources. It had been recorded as the first time since the beginning this year when armed Karimojong warriors stole a huge number of cattle after government deployed over 400 Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel in districts in East Acholi where cattle rustlings are rampant. Agago Resident district Comissioner, Linos Ngompek, confirmed the incident adding that the cattle thieves fired live bullets in the air before escaping with dozens of cattle towards Kotido district, in Karamoja sub region. Ngompek however said the vigilantes backed by LDU personnel recovered 51 head of cattle after a hot pursuit.

Kenya reports 127 new cases of Covid-19

Today 9th, June, 2020, 127 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya bringing the total to 2,989. Health CAS Rashid Aman said 2,247 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Out of these, 124 of the new cases are Kenyans while three are foreigners: 84 are male and 33 are female. The youngest patient is a 3-week-old baby and the oldest is 72 years old. 24 patients have however been discharged bringing the total recoveries to 873. Nairobi reported 62 cases, Mombasa 34, Busia 14, Machakos 4, Bungoma 3, Kwale 1 and Uasin Gishu 1 each.

3 patients discharged from Arua Regions Referral Hospital

Arua Regional Referral Hospital has discharged three people after successfully recovering from COVOD-19, bringing the number of all those discharged to eight. The three, all adult male truck drivers; two from Oli division and one from Dadamu Sub  County , in Arua district are part of 29 locals who were admitted at the regional COVID-19 treatment centre after testing positive from Elegu  border  and some of their contacts. They were sent home on Friday. The Arua Hospital Director Dr Philbert Nyeko said that the hospital has discharged eight patients so far, but warned the public against stigmatizing the discharged persons. He says discharging the patients,  is a success story for Arua and West Nile region. Business Owners should adopt E-transaction, Hon.Peter Ogwang

State Minister for ICT and national Guidance Hon. Peter Ogwang  while visiting COVID19 Taskforces along high risk districts in Teso, yesteday sunday 7th, June 2020, lauded for the Use of technology especially adoption of e-transactions for business owners to reduce risks of contracting & spreading the virus. While in Soroti, He visited the treatment center at Soroti Referral Hospital where he joined the medical staffs in the goat roasting ceremony after all testing negative of Covid-19. He added, Soroti treatment center will soon discharge it's first patient out of the 13 patients who have been admitted. So far Ogwang have visited the districts of Bukedea, Kumi and Soroti. While in Kumi, he challenged the parents to stop moving to the trading centers with Radios but rather leave for their children to help them access learning materials as the local radios have been conducting lessons through airwaves and 90% of the population can access it.

Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng this Evening dismisses the social media posts alleging that she is in trouble over Cannabis. Others are saying I am dealing in cannabis. It's unfortunate that some people always choose to circulate wrong information, Aceng added. She said she has not issued any authorization for cannabis growing in Uganda and that Cabinet is yet to consider the feasibility of this. She has requested the population to ignore the wrong media posts and treat it baseless and malicious.

CID dismisses controversies about David Openy’s death.

The police Criminal Investigation Department has dismissed controversies about the death of AlP David Openy. The late David Openy who was one of the top investigators on the state house anti-corruption unit headed by Lt Col Judith Nakalema passed on on 4th June 2020, at St Francis Nsambya Hospital. In a statement, CID spokesperson Charles Twiine clarifies that the officer died of natural illness as indicated on the death certificate given to his immediate family members. Sections of media have been relating his death to unconfirmed reports that it was because he was investigating theft of food and procurement scandals in the prime minister’s office. Twine notes that such allegations are not only immoral but also criminal.

H.E Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya Extends Restrictions against Covid-19 by another 30 days

A section of Kenyans were in high hopes that President Uhuru Kenyatta would ease down if not remove some of the restrictions set by the government to curb the transmission of the coronavirus disease. In his Seventh Presidential address on the coronavirus pandemic on May 27, Kenyatta hinted at a possibility of reopening the economy triggering anxiety and excitement that would in the end be short-lived. NIRA hunts for new executive director as Gama's contract expires

Ms Judy Obitre Gama, the executive director National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) will vacate office immediately the process to replace her starts. Ms Gama, who has been at the helm of the Authority since 2015, will not have her contract renewed on the orders of President Museveni. Gama's contract expires on July 15, 2020. In a May 18, 2020 letter to Internal Affairs Minister, Jeje Odongo, Mr Museveni directed that a new executive director with legal and information technology background be identified to head the Authority. Minister of Health visits Isingiro district, the communities are alert and vigilant

Today, Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng together with Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Team from the Ministry of Health- Uganda and Hon.Stephen Kangwagye Visited Isingiro district to access the district response. She said the communities are alert, Vigilant and are well guided by the district. I guided the district on the creation of a buffer. This is intended to actively engage the communities using VHT, increase awareness, report illegal crossings etc, Aceng added. She urged the communities to be each other's keepers to help in the prevention of COVID-19

Who is Azawi?

Azawi is a multi-talented singer-songwriter. She was inspired to do music and dance years ago after frequently visiting the Ndere Cultural Centre to watch the dance festivals. She later on joined Kika Dance Troupe in 2005. After leaving Kika Dance Troupe, Azawi started singing in school with the help of a friend, and brother, who mentored her as a singer/songwriter. That is when Azawi started writing for a few artists locally, in Uganda. Azawi has written songs for Lydia Jazmine, Nina Roz, Eddy Kenzo, etc. During her journey as a songwriter, Azawi was discovered by Swangz Avenue and this has put her on a path to stardom. Fort Fortal discharge the COVID-19 patient after testing Negative.

A COVID-19 patient who was admitted at Fort Portal regional referral hospital has been discharged after testing negative.  The 29-year-old Ugandan truck driver who tested positive for coronavirus on 8th May was tracked and intercepted at Kyarusozi tea factory in Kyenjojo.  Hospital administrators have called on the Covid-19 district task force in Fort Portal to be on the alert since the numbers are growing each day.

Kadaga toured the new parliament Chambers, Only 3 and half floors completed.

Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga this Afternoon toured the site of the new Parliament Chambers, which was expected to be completed by July 2020. She said so far the contractor, ROKO Construction Ltd, has only completed three and a half levels on a building meant to host nine levels. Kadaga added she advised the Contractor to consider having night shifts if they are to complete the works in the extra one year they’ve been given. The new building will host the debating chamber with a capacity to sit 600 MPs as opposed to the current chamber whose capacity is 100. The new Parliament building will in addition have facilities such as health clubs, museum, a state-of-the-art archiving facility, gallery, restaurant and offices. The project is expected to be completed by July 2021.
